Escape Velocity

The minimum velocity required to project a body in upward direction from the surface of the Earth so that it escapes from the Earth’s gravitational pull is called Escape velocity.

Escape velocity of Earth = 11.2 km / s (or) 40320 kmph

Orbital Velocity

The velocity with which a satellite moves around the Earth is called as Orbital velocity.

பூமியை வட்டப்பாதையில் சுற்றிவர துணைக்கோளிற்கு கொடுக்கப்படும் கிடக்கை திசைவேகம் சுற்றியக்க திசைவேகம் எனப்படுகிறது.

Orbital velocity of polar satellite = 7.5 km / s (or) 27000 kmph

Orbital velocity of geostationary satellite = 3.08 km / s (or) 11088 kmph
