It describes a verb, an adjective, another adverb, or a sentence. It tells you about an action, or the way something is done.

Adverbs of Frequency	always, often, sometimes, rarely, never

Interrogative Adverbs	how, when, where, why
Relative Adverbs	when, where, why
Conjunctive Adverbs	however, therefore, meanwhile
